Why Preparation Makes the Difference
A professional photo session in Fuerteventura can be one of the most memorable experiences of your holiday. But there’s a huge difference between showing up unprepared and arriving ready. It’s not about following a strict script — it’s about knowing what you want so that I can help you get it.
This guide is what I tell every client before their session.
Outfits: The Most Important Decision
Clothing is the first thing people notice in a photo. Follow these basic rules:
- Soft, neutral colours: white, cream, beige, terracotta, navy, sage green. They complement the sand and sky without competing with them.
- Avoid bold patterns: large logos, neon colours and busy prints draw attention away from the main subject: you.
- Coordinate, don’t match: if there are two or more of you, stay in the same colour palette but don’t wear identical outfits.
- Layers and options: bring two or three choices if you can. What looks good at home doesn’t always look the same under Fuerteventura’s sunset light.
- Footwear: on the beach and dunes, bare feet or flat sandals. Heels sink into the sand.

Fuerteventura offers unique settings you won’t find anywhere else in Europe. The most popular for photo sessions:
- Corralejo Dunes: white sand, golden light, epic landscape. The go-to for sunsets.
- Northern beaches: turquoise water, sandy floors, completely different depending on the tide.
- Corralejo Old Town: narrow streets, whitewashed walls, colourful doors. For portraits with character.
- Betancuria: island interior, colonial architecture, timeless atmosphere.
- Cofete Beach: for those who want something wild and unrepeatable. Requires extra planning for access.

Timing: When the Light Is Best
The golden rule: the golden hour (60-90 minutes before sunset) is the best time for almost any session in Fuerteventura. The light is soft, warm and transforms any location into something special.
- Summer (June-August): sunset is around 21:00-21:30. We start around 19:00-19:30.
- Winter (November-February): sunset is around 18:30-19:00. We start around 16:30-17:00.
- Sunrise: also a magical time, especially for boudoir on the dunes. Requires an early start, but the results are worth it.
On the Day of the Session
- Arrive 10 minutes early at the meeting point. We start on time to make the most of the best light.
- Bring water if it’s hot. On the dunes in summer, temperatures can be high.
- Forget about perfection: you don’t need to know how to pose. That’s my job. Tell me about your day, laugh, move. The best photos happen when you forget the camera is there.
- If you’re coming with children: bring them fed, rested and with their favourite toy. The best family photos happen when the kids are having fun, not posing.
Pre-Session FAQs
What if it rains?
Fuerteventura has over 300 days of sunshine a year, so the probability of rain is very low. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we rearrange at no extra cost.
Should I wear make-up?
It’s not required, but if you normally wear make-up, wear it as you would for a special occasion. Natural make-up looks great in outdoor photos.
Can I bring accessories?
Yes. Hats, scarves, sunglasses… well-chosen accessories add character. Avoid large logos or text.
What does the session include?
The session lasts 60-90 minutes, includes my direction throughout, and delivers edited photos in full resolution within 7-10 days via a private online gallery.
